‘Study for Knole House’ was part of a series of drawings made while designing a calling card to accompany the fountain ‘Innards’, which Emily made for the exhibition ‘A Woman’s Place’ at Knole House, Kent.
‘Study of Palatine Hill’ is a sketch made during Emily’s time at the British School at Rome. This drawing includes various fragments of architecture and vegetation observed on the Palatine Hill.
