Image of the capuchin catacombs in Palermo. Containing 8,000 mummified bodies, the practice began in the 16th century when priests mummified holy monk Silvestro so they could pray to him. Original photograph by David Levene, published in the Guardian on Saturday 26th April 2008. Shown at Eastside Projects in 2010 as part of group project Summer Camp.
